Expressing Your Concerns
Using the PACE System
Sometimes patients experience problems following a prescribed treatment — medications might have side effects or a specific diet may prohibit some of your favorite foods. The natural tendency is to change or stop the treatment on your own. But this could have unforeseen negative results.
It is best to be honest with your health care provider about any problems you are having or think you might have with a certain treatment plan. Explain how you are following the treatment — it is important to let them know if there are things you’re NOT doing, and your reasons. And let your provider know you are willing to work with them to find a more agreeable treatment or change the treatment to better meet your needs.
