More Information about the Cervical Cap

Effectiveness
The cervical cap is a good method for pregnancy prevention, although it is not quite as effective as a hormonal method. If a woman cannot or does not want to use a hormonal method, the cervical cap is a good alternative. However, a cervical cap is less effective for women who have already had a baby.

STD Protection
Because the cervical cap does not protect against STDs, it is often used in conjunction with a condom for protection against infections.

Side Effects
Except in cases of allergic reactions to latex or spermicide, the cervical cap is unlikely to cause any side effects.

Added Protection
The ability to use condoms with the cap is an added benefit.
